Didn’t plan to become a counsellor — life shaped me into one.

Born in Korea and adopted into a Dutch family, I grew up between cultures, identities, and expectations. That beginning shaped how I understand belonging — and what it feels like when you don’t. Growing up with a Korean face in a Dutch family taught me early on what it means to stand out everywhere and fit nowhere — a theme many of my clients quietly carry too.

After training in Social Work in the Netherlands, I spent years supporting vulnerable youth and adults before life took me elsewhere. I taught English in Seoul and Singapore, worked in hospitality in the U.S., and studied mindfulness in Phuket — long before it became mainstream.
Life changed again when I became a mother and later went through a divorce abroad.
Starting over at a later age meant losing stability, rebuilding from nothing, and learning to live differently.

Those experiences taught me what no textbook ever could — to see life as it is, to face what hurts instead of escaping it, and to find a quieter kind of peace in what can’t be changed.
